“Amateur Radio is my hobby…” I’m a Licensed Amateur Radio operator! (since 1995) Well what does that mean? well this is a hobby where you experiment in radio communications. There are so many different aspects of this hobby, that I just don’t have the space to try and cover them all here! However, my main interest is “Digital Communications” and I use a mode called “Packet Radio” this is where you basically use a computer to send data to another computer using the radio as the means of transport. You will see on this Blog that I have some images of a device called “TinyTrak4″ this is a small PIC based packet radio controller. This is the product (along with many others) developed by Byon Garrabrant N6BG

I use Arch Linux on my Desktop PC and Debian for this server.

Here’s some of the boring bits of this server hardware…

IBM eSERVER 220 M/T 8646-4AX

  • Dual Pentium III 1.4 GHz CPU
  • 4096 Mb ECC RAM
  • ServeRAID-4Lx (configured to RAID-1 with redundant hot swap)
  • 3 x 36.4 GiB 10k SCSI HDD
  • DVD-RW R DL
  • FDD

Now I have to admit that I’m not a serious blogger… So don’t get too disappointed if the content doesn’t change quickly! :P
